About Cybersecurity Seminars
Nelson Mandela University (NMU) will develop a series of Cybersecurity Seminars to upskill students with specialized skills. In addressing the prevalent cybersecurity challenges of local community organisations this program will identify cybersecurity related needs within local community organization (LCOs) and match the students with the LCOs on completion of training. Over a two-year period, we will run winter / summer seminars to train 100 students in specific cybersecurity / artificial intelligence courses. These students will then be placed as interns in a targeted 125 local community organizations. The focus of these placements will be on preventing cyberattacks in the partner LCOs. This program also focuses on addressing the national concern of unemployment whilst simultaneously creating opportunities for our students / graduates to gain cybersecurity skills and gain practical experience. The university will leverage existing relationships with internal units and the public sector.

On 20 July 2017, it was officially renamed Nelson Mandela University (NMU). With approximately 32,000 students, the University is the largest in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The University offers a diverse range of academic qualifications, from one-year certificates, three-year degrees and diplomas to postgraduate programs leading to Masters and Doctoral degrees. These programs include academic qualifications as well as vocational and professional programs.
